Today’s post includes those releases and updates that have come out since June 8, 2020, including new features in Percona Monitoring and Management, two updates to Percona Distribution of PostgreSQL, and Percona XtraBackup 8.0.13, with support for backup and restore processing for all versions of MySQL.
Percona XtraDB Cluster 5.6.48-28.40
On June 8, 2020, Percona XtraDB Cluster 5.6.48-28.40 was released. Based on Percona Server for MySQL 5.6.48-88.0, it’s a free, open source, enterprise-grade solution that includes the high availability and security features your business needs to meet customer expectations and business goals.

Percona Monitoring and Management 2.7.0
Percona Monitoring and Management 2.7.0 was released on June 10, 2020. It is a free and open-source platform for managing and monitoring MySQL, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL performance. In this release, we have updated Grafana to version 6.7.4. New features and improvements include a pmm-admin socket option (–socket) to specify UNIX socket path for connecting to MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and ProxySQL instances, the homepage now includes a news panel, MySQL Table Details dashboard filter on Service Name prevents the display of services without data, and the independent update of PMM components is deactivated. This release also sees eight bug fixes, a full list of which can be seen in the release notes. We recommend updating to the latest version of PMM as soon as possible.

Percona Distribution of PostgreSQL 12.3
On June 11, 2020, we released Percona Distribution of PostgreSQL 12.3, a collection of tools based on PostgreSQL 12.3 to assist you in managing PostgreSQL. Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL is shipped with the libpq library, containing “a set of library functions that allow client programs to pass queries to the PostgreSQL backend server and to receive the results of these queries.”

Percona Distribution of PostgreSQL 11.8
Also on June 11, 2020, Percona Distribution of PostgreSQL 11.8 was released. This release of Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL is based on PostgreSQL 11.8.

ProxySQL 2.0.12
ProxySQL 2.0.12 was released on June 11, 2020. Released by ProxySQL, it is now available for download in the Percona repository along with an updated version of Percona’s proxysql-admin tool. The ProxySQL 2.0.12 source and binary packages available from the Percona download page for ProxySQL include ProxySQL Admin – a tool developed by Percona to configure Percona XtraDB Cluster nodes into ProxySQL. ProxySQL is a high-performance proxy, currently for MySQL, and database servers in the MySQL ecosystem (like Percona Server for MySQL and MariaDB).
Percona XtraBackup 8.0.13
On June 17, 2020, Percona XtraBackup 8.0.13 was released. It supports backup and restore processing for all versions of MySQL and has been tested with the latest MySQL 8.0.20, helping to drive down backup costs while providing unique features for MySQL backups. This release has several bug fixes.

Percona XtraDB Cluster 8.0.19-10
Percona XtraDB Cluster 8.0.19-10 was released on June 18, 2020. It is a free, open source, enterprise-grade solution that includes the high availability and security features that help you reduce security risks, increase scalability, improve performance, increase DBA efficiency, and reduce the total cost of IT investment. Improvements in this release include a modification of the reference architecture to include ProxySQL, processing will not allow writes on 8.0 nodes while 5.7 nodes are still on the cluster, and documentation includes AutoStart Up process after installation. In addition, numerous bug fixes can be reviewed in the release notes.
