Today’s post includes those which have come out since April 27, 2020, including the GA release of Percona XtraDB Cluster 8.0, the new Percona Kubernetes Operator for Percona XtraDB Cluster, and two updates for Percona Server for MongoDB.

 

Percona XtraDB Cluster 8.0 (8.0.18-93)

On April 29, 2020, we introduced the GA release of Percona XtraDB Cluster 8.0, the most stable, scalable, secure, and highly available open source MySQL database on the market. It can be deployed manually or by using the Percona Kubernetes Operator for Percona XtraDB Cluster.

Percona Kubernetes Operator for Percona XtraDB Cluster

Also on April 29th, 2020, the Percona Kubernetes Operator for Percona XtraDB Cluster was released.  It automates the creation, alteration, or deletion of members in your Percona XtraDB Cluster environment. The Operator contains all necessary Kubernetes settings to provide a proper and consistent Percona XtraDB Cluster instance.

Percona Server for MongoDB 4.0.18-11

April 30, 2020, saw the release of Percona Server for MongoDB 4.0.18-11. It is an enhanced, open source, and highly-scalable database that is a fully-compatible, drop-in replacement for MongoDB 4.0.18 Community Edition.

There are several improvements in this release, including support for LDAP authorization (with some limitations, as can be seen in the release notes).

Percona XtraDB Cluster 5.6.47-28.40

Percona XtraDB Cluster 5.6.47-28.40 was released on May 4, 2020. It is a high availability, open-source, MySQL clustering solution that helps enterprises minimize unexpected downtime and data loss, reduce costs, and improve the performance and scalability of database environments. Several improvements are in this release, such as the ability to configure xbstream options with wsrep_sst_xtrabackup, as well as bug fixes, including  PXC-2904, which ensured the PXC yum package installed the required xtrabackup version.

Percona Server for MongoDB 4.2.6-6

On May 7, 2020, Percona Server for MongoDB 4.2.6-6 was released. It is an enhanced, open source, and highly-scalable database that is a fully-compatible, drop-in replacement for MongoDB 4.2.6 Community Edition. A new feature includes the addition of Kerberos authentication.

Percona XtraDB Cluster 5.7.29-31.43

And finally, on May 8, 2020, Percona XtraDB Cluster 5.7.29-31.43 was released. It is a high-availability clustering solution based on Percona Server for MySQL. There are several improvements in this version, including the addition of a “disable” option to the service_startup_timeout for workloads that require more time, as well as the ability to configure xbstream options with wsrep_sst_xtrabackup. In addition, there are also several bug fixes.
